Hitting women - right or wrong?

So the other day I was having a debate with a few friends about hitting women. Personally, it's not right. There's many factors to take into account when in this type of situation. Many say you should only hit a woman to defend your life, but the other day I actually asked my friend what would he do if a girl spat in his face... His reply was pretty comical \/

You reminded me of a similar debate I had with one of my friends when we two saw a lady hit a man on his face for a small mistake. But you know the man could do nothing but said sorry for three times. You know when a lady hits a man it's perfectly fine but if a man does the same the all hell will break loose. I will rather not do that even if I was not guilty.

I think that hitting woman is the same as hitting man. Since woman are requesting for gender equality, then obviously this has to be taken into account here. I believe that it is the same for man and woman. Violence can be justified depending on the situation. It does not matter if it is man or woman, if it is just some personal argument or disagreement, then there is no justification for violence. The only justification for violence is when the other party starts it, then you will be forced to return it. So, hitting woman is justified if the woman starts hitting the man first (excluding special circumstances like breakup slap etc).

I would never hit a woman no matter what she does to me. I have never had that happen to me and I hope it will never happen but if it does I will still not do anything back to her. I can see the point in why a man should not hit a woman because in most cases guys are way stronger than girls are. The physical force of a guy can be deadly.

Women can actually be prosecuted in the exact same way that a Male can be. This was a law change a little while ago but I cannot talk for everyone as some old laws are probably still the same in other countries. All I know is, women and men shouldn't be fighting period! This is just my own personal opinion, others may think differently.

I believe in equality so I would react the same way as if a male attacked me, probably with less violence because you have to measure your strenght in the case of a woman as you could do serious physical damage to her.

If a girl spits in my face, I'd spit back, if she slaps me, I'd slap back, if she punches me, I'd punch back. I wouldn't punch or slap with all my force but try to with the same force she used on me but I'd be sure to teach her that it could be a lot worse. If she doesn't learn her lesson sooner and nicer, she's going to end up killed by someone else.

I will only hit a woman if she is a Psychotic serial killer trying to kill me.  There is no gender lines when it comes to life and death situations. I am always patient to women, My mother is verbally abusive and my girlfriend can be annoying at times but I have patience with no limit. I just leave the room if things get heated.

I would never hit my mother or girlfriend but if a random woman came up to me and started physically assaulting me, I'll have to fight back.

While violence should be the last option, I feel that using it if used against you is easily justifiable. Now the obvious problem here are the whiteknights who are guaranteed to pop up from thin air and start beating you for hitting a woman, despite her hitting you first. These idiots are the reason I might try to sway away from hitting a woman even in self-defense.
