Just recently I was reading another news story covering a family that had a credit bill racked up into the thousands because of the young son making purchases through different mobile games on their family iPad. This got me thinking about who is at fault in this situation?
Even more than that, these IAPs (in-app purchases) have been growing into larger stories as more and more families are getting significantly high bills. This gets me thinking about the bigger picture of who is really responsible for these situations? Do mobile game developers (possibly purposely) make IAPs a little too easy to find for young children? Do parents not check what their child is doing every once in a while? All of these things might factor into it really.
This practice of free download, but paying to advance, has been seen as a real problem for the industry of mobile gaming. Do you agree with that? I personally do, but I do know people who like the challenges of advancing through some fun games without spending a dime. They see not paying as an extra challenge, in a way.
