How important are lyrics?

Words give meaning to music but sometimes the music is so overpowering that lyrics doesn't seem important. Which would you rather prefer, audible lyrics or audible music?

I think that both are equally important, but if the lyrics are a problem then you can always find a re-do of a same song with no lyrics. It won't be very important because usually those two things are made by two different individuals.
I like music better but if words are not so appealing I usually drop a song very soon.

I would rather prefer good audible music. Usually, if the lyrics are horrible but the music is good, it won't matter to me but I would never listen to a song because of the pure lyrics.

Audible music, i like Chill music, any type, EDM, Mid-age, etc

Sometimes, I don't bother about the music because it's the lyrics that count for me. If I hear a song with awful music but meaningful lyrics, I'll just wait for a talented one to make either an acoustic or piano cover of it because these talents make the song even better and make people appreciate the essence of the lyrics and not just the music. I have also observed that songs created by DJs (Calvin Harris, David Guetta) have meaningful lyrics on it. Titanium would be the best example.

I mean, they don't really matter. I enjoy a lot of Instrumental based music without lyrics, so they shouldn't really matter i guess.

Lyrics are very important. If the song has a bad message, I wouldn't listen to it as much! A great beat with great lyrics is what i love!

Depends on what I am doing at the time. I usually only analyize lyrics if I am at home by myself. If I am partying or something I could careless about the lyrics and go with the beat
