Bias in the media

The media has always played a pivotal role between the people and the government, as a communication tool and as a way to keep the people in power under constant scrutiny. Sadly, journalism these days seems to have been converted into a tool for the politicians that now are able to use them for their benefit, with the end result being that the people is getting more and more misinformed about the things that happen in their country and in the world in general. What measure can we take to stop this downward spiral of journalism into a giant propaganda machine?
