I had so many friends when I was younger but as time goes by it seems that there is a winnowing process. Some friends have gone for good, some have moved, but the saddest is that some have scammed me. When I reached middle age, I realize that mere companionship does not define friendship. There should be a mutual respect and understanding but most of all, there is care. When some friends started borrowing money and then goes missing from my sight, that's the indication that they had dropped the term friendship.
Moral lesson: do not lend money to anyone.

True. Money can really split friends apart. Since money can even split family apart, it's best not to associate money in anything relating to people you care about keeping. If they ask, you should explain that money compromises aren't good in friendships or in family unless it's a gift.

I don't think we should try so hard to keep anyone, if the person is right it will stay anyway in our life, if is not, who cares.
