Does your family have any traditions? Many times, traditions begin with things that people do during the holidays, and then those things get continued from year to year. It could be anything, big or small. Maybe you string popcorn to decorate your Christmas tree or maybe you serve certain family recipes on various occasions.

Do you enjoy such traditions? Have you come up with ideas of your own?

I used to let the kids pick whatever they wanted for dinner on their birthdays. They got to pick the cake and ice cream flavors too, and I would make whatever they wanted. Then, I would "sneak" them a little piece of birthday cake for breakfast the next morning, pretending like no one else could know and it was just their special thing. They figured out after a while that everyone else got the same thing, but it was fun when they were little.

Our family traditions coincide with Christmas and Holy Week. That customary Christmas tree and gifts during the Christmas season plus the sumptuous food on the table are unforgettable. With the Holy Week, we would be incarcerated at home because kids were prohibited to play. There was also the passion reading that we join and we also watch the penitents on the road. With food during the Lenten season? They are all bland because no meat until Easter Sunday.

We have many traditions in our family but the major would be the Diwali and our New Year. This is the time for family visits to relatives, crowded temple visits, exchange of homemade delicacies and family outings. Truly memorable moments to treasure.

Aw, we have daily - they are called breakfast, lunch and dinner. I like those the best. Very useful.
I never like customs and traditions and whenever my parents were making something special, I thought how weird and fake that all is, because in regular days they were just awful. You have to be nice to your family every day, not only because it is Blessed Holly Someday.

We have our own traditions, especially during the whole Christmas week. We invite everyone to go to our house, eat and chat with each other. We give our neighbor kids gifts and hold parlor games with them.
