Honestly I wouldn't ever buy a desktop unless I am going to be sitting at the computer for long periods of time. Laptops, especially 2 in 1 tablets such as Surface get the job done.

I feel like the desktop space has sort of reached its peak and its all about 2 in 1/tablets/laptops these days.

I think you should choose a Desktop. I had one before but then I stopped using it. They're really good for gaming setups and they're really fast too.

I can do everything on my light weight laptop that can be done on heavy weight desktop, and the good thing is laptop is portable, easy to carry and easy to work. Further more if I was a backup on desktop I need to have UPS, however, laptop is powered by battry that can be easily recharged.

While I like desktop computers since they are profesionally made and you can customize them easily, I prefer laptop for portability. Years ago I used to play games pretty often so I would feel the need to get a computer to have a greater experience. I no longer play games that much so a laptop is just right for my overall needs and daily use. I have an HP model which I'm not very proud of since the sound quality is not that good but it's still pretty fast though in terms of software and hardware. It has a decent graphics card and an i3 processor. I use it mostly for watching videos, reading articles, buying things on the internet, listening to music and little to no gaming. For these reasons and I prefer laptops.

I use laptops since I have back problems and can't stay sitting on a chair for too long even if the chair is comfortable. I need to lay down on a bend with a certain laptop set up on a box for me to feel comfortable.

It really does depend on what you're going to be using them for. If you're looking for easy access and portable movement as you travel a lot or need it for work/study, then a laptop is definitely ideal for you. If you're wanting to do Graphics Designs, Gaming, Rendering, Streaming or a lot of work related things, then a Desktop is definitely the one to go for. If you want high quality for Graphics Designing and video editing such as some good quality software, then go for a MAC as they're extremely good for these types of things.
