Theranos was very popular with providing tests that required only a single droplet of blood with their "Edison" devices, and it has been going on for 2 years with a 9 billion dollar startup evaluation in 2014. However investigations have shown that Theranos's tests are unreliable exactly because they only measure one drop of blood.
Any and every test ever conducted by Theranos's Edison devices has been voided, and an update mail was sent to the doctors that ordered these tests, because of how many cases of wrong test results they yielded (we're talking tens of thousands of tests).

A thorough investigation will follow, which could lead to the founders of Theranos being forbidden to own or operate a medical test lab for more than two years according to California law (That's where the Theranos HQ is situated). One of the founders jumped the sinking boat earlier this month and filed a resignation, but is under investigation nonetheless.

I remember the owner of this company is crowned as the world's youngest self made female billionaire. Wow her company reached the top so fast and now her empire is starting to fall.

It's a shame that they are failing, but they messed up so badly that they didn't leave any space for a revival of the project.
This whole cherade has started a backlash of skepticism toward start-ups that are worth more than a billion dollars in estimation. (Theranos was worth 9 billion)
There's also criticism over the fact that Theranos used mass-media hype and stealth research as public relation strategy, instead of sumbitting their research to peer-review journals as most innovators do.

I really want this company to succeed because it will inspire little girls to dream of being billionaires by their own skills and not by marrying a rich guy. It can inspire young women to become self made billionaires. Sadly this company messed up big time.
