In light of various happenings with minors, catfishing and the such, the dating app Tinder has now decided to discontinue services for users under 18 years of age. The dating app has allowed everyone 13 years of age or older to use the app since it launched back in 2012. Anyone between 13 and 17 years old was only allowed to match with others in that pool.

Quote:Here is Tinder’s official statement:
Quote:On a platform that has facilitated over 11 billion connections, we have the responsibility of constantly assessing our different user experiences. Consistent with this responsibility, we have decided to discontinue service for under 18 users. We believe this is the best policy moving forward. This change will take effect next week.

This follows an earlier announcement from Tinder promising a new "transgender-friendly" experience.

There are underage teens who looks like grown up adults and with that they were able to fake their age on their profiles. Imagine all the troubles an unsuspecting adult who thought they were legal.

Then there are adults who looks underage and can pretend they were underage and be a predator to minors. This is a good move on tinder's part to decrease pedophilia online.

It's a good idea since many teenagers nowadays don't know what they really do. I mean dating really only for adults but many teenagers nowadays resort to it. It's just good, as it can also prevent teenage pregnancy and pedophilia.
