In public schools, they give out too much homework and assignments. School shouldn't be 8 hours, that's too long. Teenagers and children need to have some time home alone, to just relax, hang out with friends, think about things other than what is taught in schools. As a homeschooled teenager with multiple friends whom are in public schools (they wish they were homeschooled like me, and always complain about public school), I believe that public school holds back the lives of young men and women. Independent study is nice because it allows for a free schedule, and YOU'RE in control of your work. Not some stranger that merely thinks of you as another sheep in the herd. I get A's and B's for this reason. Independent study is something that works more efficiently, and I think it is very underrated for the kind of wonders it can do for a kid's education and overall intelligence. With a few friends and computers/television/online video game consoles, a homeschooled child can be just as social and just as "normal" as one of the sheeps being herded around in public high schools now-a-days. I've been homeschooled since 1st grade and people can't even tell. I went to programs to meet friends, and I turned out just fine social-wise.

Thoughts? Opinions?
