Extraterrestrial species

Since i was a kid I've always been interested in the future of our evolution. And always thought that we would become an extraterrestrial species (tbh we are already, since at least 3 humans are always away from Earth in the low orbit on the ISS). What's your opinion on that ?

Taking into consideration the recent technological advancement in the space industry, it is quite possible to make the next giant step - Colonizing Mars. However, interstellar space travel (with humans) is a bit far fetched as of now unless we find a new technology where we can transport living beings at the speed of light without causing self-annihilation. I would be happy to live to see the day we actually colonize Mars. Not just sent one or two astronauts. Say a colony of 100 people. What a day that would be for Mankind.

Good thing that we are on the same pace. Obviously going to another solar system is not the next step we will take since we are still limited, but Mars is a great goal by now, and can be achievable. In the following years we'll be able to assemble a Mars mission, but won't be able to bring anyone back until we are able to send the spaceships from a space/lunar station since the payload will never allow us to send enough fuel to liftoff from Mars. So I believe the missions will be all about sending a great pool of people on Mars over the years, and try to develop a Mars station until it's able to be "self sufficient" minus the fact that we will still have to send them some tech. But they could do a lot to be self sufficient food wise, but also with 3D printers and stuff

Yeah that's true, I wonder how we will react the first day we will see an alien that's more than just bacterias, cuz it could have any form possible since it didn't develop like us

for all, we know the reason why we don't see aliens walking around and stuff could be because they can't breathe oxygen.

The fastest way for us to reach them, is if they pee oil. MURICA would get there in a second.
I really think we have no idea of what we can still discover on that subject ... they could even be pokemon look a like  :suprisedpikachu:

So i see there a couple of different :

1 - Either there are no other living creatures out there (wouldn't be a good sign i guess)
2 - They are watching us and decided not to visit a world full of hate and retards
3- They aren't as advanced and can't talk/visit whatever to us.

Your second point reminds me of the movie Arrival, where they come to actually teach us to stop fighting each others.

The 3rd is more likely. You'd need to be able to detect that we exist, to be able to move in space (+ at fast speed) while being able to sustain life on that spaceship, and a good reason to come. Because you would not want to spend most of your ressources just to visit an inhabited planet without knowing how the living creatures there would react, and what you could get from them.
