I like python/C/CPP/golang. First python allows me a lot of scripting so let's say we are working on a simple BOF well we can quickly script characters to figure out the buffer size in GDB or windbg.Instead of trial and error or restarting a debugger you can do it there in the run, makes things just that little bit less manual. Python also has so many libraries I remember Perl and Ruby were huge for exploits and development but python really has come into it's own over the years, like back in 2004 or so ruby and perl were much more common when creating a POC.

C/CPP to me are very versatile language we can port code from python to these languages, C/CPP were actually the first two languages I learned when I was 14 back then it was just a book and good luck finding great documentation back in the mid 90's. One thing that most people including myself will struggle with is cross compiling in the very start VM's really were not possible and having multiple machines well shit I am not made out of money. So as of late I have transitioned to GoLang where cross compilation is super easy, sometimes it's not an option so it's back to the good ole clang and a few extra minutes to hours of frustration.
