Electricity vs water supply

I'd rather create electricity through my water supply. Simply connect the tap with a dynamo and you've got yourself some electricity. Alternatively you could use mini-solar panels to charge your phones and other batteries.
I think it would be really stressfull for me not to have running water in the house. People have been able to live in the past off the power grid, but having to go out and buy water is too much of a pain for me.
