What do you think about this "painting"?

I see things like this painting (at the bottom) and wonder "Why would someone ever pay so much money for something such as that".. The picture below is a $44 million dollar painting by Barnett Newman, a 20th century American artist dealing in "abstract expressionism"..

Do you think a painting like this should ever be sold for such ridiculous amounts of money? I don't even think that pictures like this should be called art.. It's nothing more than a line.. Anyone can draw a line and say it stands for something, but only does it change when it's a certain person drawing/painting it...

What is your guys' take?
