Nobody deserves to be beaten. I've gotten the belt from my father maybe once in my lifetime, and that's only because I did something that put my life in serious danger. I've turned out just fine.
If you have to resort to beating your kid for them to listen, you are doing something wrong as a parent. Sit down and have a fucking talk, explain to them why what they did was wrong/dangerous, and tell them not to do it again.
