It's not necessarily spamming, unless people are literally spamming like yugurt showed above. There's no limit daily per how many people you can welcome, and it's an easy planned post people can make to get some extra posts each day. Also, some people don't care about their post count, but WE ALL consider it an achievement when we get to certain amounts. (100, 500, 1000, etc.)

It's an iffy subject, obviously it should be okay.. but people constantly abuse it.
