What if we are judged as a whole by a god?
Also, I read something in John today about getting into heaven, it said something similar to "You can only get into heaven if you have come from heaven -- The son of Man". I thought of that as we would have been born pure then human influences promote a sin-like life.

There has to be pain and suffering so that people don't take other emotions such as happiness for granted.

There has to be pain, natural disasters, and suffering. Or else happiness and joy would be a normal and empty feeling, rendering life boring and meaningless.
