I believe violent games have a negative effect on society, but they're just too damn fun! Children should definitely not be let play violent video games, their perception of reality is still developing and exposing them to violence will not result in anything good. I talk from experience, I remember as a child I played violent (but not very realistic) games, and I ended up hurting my friends trying to mimic the game. In later years, I kept on playing the games, but they haven't affected me in a way noticeable to myself.

Adding a notice at the beginning won't do much good. People that have the slightest amount of common sense should realize this, and those who don't, will simply ignore the label. I've seen "do not do this" labels in racing games on many occasions, but if anyone wants to drive fast and does not have good enough moral not to do it for the sake of himself and others, a notice like that won't stop him.

These are my two cents.
