Starcraft

Ah, Starcraft.  That games used to be my life essentially, many years ago.  I swear I must have had a streak of playing that game online every day for a period of a few years.  At least one game a day.  I have a lot to thank to that game.  I've met a lot of awesome people online due to it, people who I still talk to today, so that worked out pretty well.  Of course, I'm talking about the original Starcraft (and Brood War).

And then there's Starcrat II.  I was always a huge fan of Starcraft ever since it came out.  Like I said, it was my life at one point.  I loved everything about it, including the story and the lore and all of that.  I always anticipated a sequel coming out, and spent lots of time speculating and hoping, and eagerly awaiting for that day to come.  And then it came.

I picked it up on the day it came out, and immediately got to playing it.  I'm not really disappointed necessarily, but perhaps a little bit let down.  Playing this game, it's just not what I was expecting and hoping for.  It just doesn't feel like Starcraft to me, but rather something completely different.  And although that's not really bad, and the same itself is still good, it still doesn't leave me feeling pleased in the end.

Perhaps it's that it just took so long for it to actually come out.  A decade of waiting for it.  I think maybe that allowed things to get a bit old.  Maybe there was just too much of a leap in how the game played, due to advancements in game development over the past 10 years.  It was not what I was expecting though.  I haven't even played it in months now.  But I guess it's the best we could really ask for at this point.  Maybe things will change once they release the new campaigns.

Yeah theres going to be expansion packs. And also, the one major changes from Brood War > Sc2 is the custom games. They can be sooooooooo versatile. Seriously. In Brood war they felt mediocre to play, [imo] but in Sc2 its just crazy. SmashCraft is an example of how AWESOME they can be.
