Nobody deserves to be beaten. I've gotten the belt from my father maybe once in my lifetime, and that's only because I did something that put my life in serious danger. I've turned out just fine.

If you have to resort to beating your kid for them to listen, you are doing something wrong as a parent. Sit down and have a fucking talk, explain to them why what they did was wrong/dangerous, and tell them not to do it again.

All you need to do is preach to your kid and explain shit in depth. It's a lot harder than just smacking them around like a piece of shit, but it'll save your kid from thinking that their father is an abusive retard who doesn't have the time of day to sit down and talk with them.

I totally agree on some sort of physical punishment sometimes. But DAMN that was fucked up.... He left some bad welts/bruises after that.
