Humans still would try to overpower God and gain his allegiance of some sort. The world is corrupt like this. Nations would have wars to see which one God favors or is with during the time of battle.

Ehh..at this point in time it doesn't seem like there is a 'god'.
You look at the world today, and if there is a god then he must be taking a really long vacation from being god.

Depends on your belief and view on the matter. Christians think that he's being silent and answering prayers to people who deserve it by testing our faith in him and put out the love of him/bible without him being their himself or through Jesus.

All depends on your point of view.

Believe me that the human race is more despicable then you can ever imagine. Humans are prepared to do whatever it takes to take control. The desire that humans have for power is unbelievable. They will do whatever it takes to learn new things, adapt to the situations and what not to conquer what they believe is going to make them, euhmm, immortal.

For example; bare with me, I know this is fiction, but nonetheless can be used as an argument

Odin or Heimdall, they're quite powerful and they can sense and feel things that normal people, even Thor himself cannot see or sense. Yet Loki's desire for power has made him go and seek far enough to learn witchcraft and mind-games to eventually sit on the throne.

You have to understand, that we humans, for the most part, are by far the worst race that has ever lived. The humans are responsible for more killings, destruction's, despair and unnecessary commotion than any other race has ever caused.

Look at this little fella, he's devastated. He no longer has hope. What happens later? He becomes a ruthless killer, or will live a painful life, or become mental.

Yeah, because if I had just found out that heaven is real, I'll be 100% focused on exploiting God for the remainder of my short (in comparison) life. Realistically, a majority of people will simply become more religious, which would lead to less violence, wars, etc. Since no one would want to spend an eternity in hell right?

It is true most people in the world would start believing in the God from what ever religion it's out of became before us but like I said, there are those who would do wrong. The majority of the world would start following it's path that it lays out before them while the others would start following the other path which is evil as if there is God, there is the Devil.

Can go both ways but you two are correct by far.

There is a spirit of perverseness that grips the world as a whole, the idea that dishonesty and individual gain is the key to success. Many idiots would worship Satan. Assuming this real god is somewhat similar to the Christian ideology, we'd have satanists and Faustian pacts in the mix as well, entirely new problems.

Other than simply a "yolo" mentality that would be shared by much of the world due to a new found lack of fear. People can be crazy assholes, and even if god was real, people would still misinterpret and argue over his word. The would be no cease to the violence. The denial would be real as well. What if God reveals that Jesus was a false prophet? The catholic church would not take this lightly; human culture has centuries of tradition behind many religions, and I doubt they would all simply "give up" their beliefs if god decided to come down to earth.

And to those who say that many groups would try to court the favors of god, and he would listen; is this not against the very notion of a higher being? To suggest that once he came he would simply pick and choose his favorites goes against the ideals of many of the world's religions.

The existence of god does matter; and if he should I am sure the lasting effects on Earth would be less than ideal.

Humans throughout history have proven we need something to look up to or forward too. Ask yourself, if you lived in a world with no power figures, no direction, no government, no law. Do you think you would be the person you are today? Do you think your parents would be the people they grew to be? Most likely not, humans need an icon to follow, a leader, a beacon f hope that in the after life there will be something, anything to find or go towards. I myself am an atheist, i believe strongly in vestigial features in which we ALL possess as a species. I believe i will return to the earth from whence i came, my opinion religion is a fantasy fairy fable made up to keep order

Why earn pennies a page when you can invent your own religion and make millions? I do believe people need a higher power to look to for direction and guidance when they do not understand their beginnings. I myself think it is a waste of time and you are looking for something that isn't there but hey who am i too judge? After all there is the ever present possibility that i myself am the one who is incorrect as i have no way of knowing what is beyond this world.
