Again, there is no logical reason you'd have it at 24 hours, or 12 except to have your site statistics inflated.

Do you not see how using an online counter that keeps no history is bad for growth analysis? All we want is an honest, fair last online.

I can see why you would use last online for tracking growth, it lists the number of people in a very simple way and allows you to see users names instead of just numbers.
