Wiping my.hard drive.

I've heard it works to remove viruses, but how do I it? Is it possible.to? Is so id like to know. I need to know what to do, reply what I need and.how to.do.it please.

You can either wipe your drive by using an install disk for an operating system, a system tools disk, or your BIOS or Sata/IDE controller.

So, the install disk comes with the origanal box and stuff right?

A lot of possibilites, mate !
To keep it simple, wiping disk will also remove your operating system. So, you'll have to install another one. That's why in every installation disk, there is an option to wipe the disk before installing the new OS.

If you want to install a Linux OS, just download any Live DVD of your choice, and boot on it . When installing, choose to install the new OS on the whole disk.

If you want to install Windows, you can use the DVD included in the original box, or burn a new one. And boot on it, and install Windows on the whole disk to !

Typically an install disc does come with the purchase of a computer. If you do not have one, there are alternative methods.

I should have one, it might be with my.other computers.

If not, we can follow other steps to wipe the hard drive. Why are you wiping it if you don't mind me asking?

If it has to do with malware, I'd be more than happy to provide you a site that offers free malware removal. Better than wiping a drive.

If you could, please download Malwarebytes Chameleon. Basically this tool will install MBAM to your machine even if infected.

Once downloaded, please run a quick scan. If malware is detected, please select remove all and restart the machine.

I highly suggest getting the malware removed first as viruses can attach onto photos thus wasting your time on that wipe.
