Right, so:

1/3 = .33333....
(1/3)*3 = 1
.33333....*3 = .9999....
Therefore 1 = .9999....

Does this mean that whole number do not exist and are just limits?

Irrelevant of what way you look at it, it's coming infinitely close to 1, thus technically 1. In a sense, a limit.

You've failed to recognize other fractions and divisions that doesn't produce repeating decimals. In those instances, whole numbers are possible even with used decimals. ex: 1/2= .5 and .5x2=1

There is a name for the mathmatical law that makes it one, why can't I remember it. And .3333... is another way for saying 1/3, so the answer is still technically 1.
