The current icon for the HF Award is not very related to the award itself, and I thought the one I just whipped up would be more fitting.

Nah. Why try to associate yourself with another site more then you should? Wouldn't want a HF icon on this forum and with my profile.

Oh trust me, I dislike HF as well, I just think it'd be more fitting. However, you have a good point.
