Most people do not know how to research a website to find out if it's a SCAM... or a slick designed RIP-OFF.
HERE'S WHAT I DO TO CHECK OUT A WEBSITE:
1) I go to
http://www.DomainTools.com and enter the website address/URL in the "Who Is?" search bar. I then review all the information that is provided.
2) I then go to
http://www.VisualRoute.com (free demo version) and I enter the URL to see where the site currently is being PINGED & HOSTED from.
3) then go to THE WAYBACK MACHINE
http://www.archive.org/index.php and enter the website/URL. I review the complete HISTORY of the website.
5) And
http://www.Compete.com and enter the website/URL.
6) Then go to
http://www.Alexa.com and enter the website/URL.
7) Also go to
http://www.WebSiteOutlook.com
8) Then go to the actual website and I review their "HTML source" / "HTML source code" and I review the page title, description, keywords, tags, page links, third party links, email adresses, etc, etc.
9) Here
http://www.Google.com ,
http://www.Yahoo.com and
http://www.microsoft.com and and do a search using their PRIMARY KEYWORDS and or COMPANY NAMES / PRODUCT NAMES.
10) Then go to
http://www.Google.com and enter their PRIMARY KEYWORDS, PLUS SECONDARY KEYWORDS such as: + SCAM, + RIP OFF, + CHEATED ME, + NEVER DELIVERED, + DID NOT DELIVER THE PRODUCT, + REVIEW, + INFO, + FORUM, etc.
11) Go to
http://www.Spyfu.com and enter the URL.
12) I carefully read the websites TERMS, CONDITIONS, POLICIES PROCEDURES, PRIVACY POLICY, TESTIMONIALS, THIRD PARTY LINKS, THIRD PARTY SUPPLIERS, PAYMENT SOLUTION PROVIDERS, EMAIL ADDRESSES, OWNERS NAME or NAMES, etc, etc,
I am constantly on the "look out" for "RED FLAGS!".
