Well.. that escalated quickly.
It is like the guy in Florida who tripped on a crosswalk, got ran over and he got 6 years in prison for impeding traffic and causing 'havoc'

That's a little overboard. Either way maybe this will more often prevent idiots from doing it.
You can cause plane/helicopter crashes when doing this, which could be a form of attempted murder. It's dangerous.
Now.. it being a police helicopter? How stupid can you be! They probably thought they were about to be assassinated.

I personally just believe this is another act of power abuse, who in their right mind would give 14 years to someone for pointing a lazer at a helicopter. Of course there could have been problems if someone was blinded or something of the sort, but nothing did happen...
Maybe a fine or something, not 14 years in prison :(
