So I made some Spoken Word, I took some words from different sources and compiled it and put my own touch to the poem - But tell me what you think. Its aimed for the church as part of a preach or something.
If you are a christian what is your view on the poem in regards to the church?
If you are atheist, please don't say 'god doesnt exist' or anything in this thread - I don't want that here, I just want your opinions on the poem itself.
Transcript (I changed some words on the spot):
What have we done church?
To get to the point where I see Jesus, god, the allegiance
And it turns people off like I’m full of diseases
God has been wrecking me
Like a gut check you wouldn’t believe
But in my weakness and sin
God took me in and gave me a new life to begin
So the old Charlie is torn.
And made me a child in his likeness reborn.
So I don’t mourn my dead body
In fact I rejoice in my poverty
Because I know my god has got me.
And because of that I am free
It is like winning the eternal lottery
That’s the lord’s soverty
This isn’t a spoken word
But I don’t know if you heard I am a white kid from the suburbs.
Christianity has been lacking
And honestly the church has been sending people packing.
Maybe it’s time for us to go back to the start
The heart of what the ministry is
Stop the world from brainwashing generations
Upon generations.
Every time i turn the TV on all I see is me.
What can I get what can i WANT what can I have
the newest laptop? The newest ipad?
Yet here we are craving this material
And yet we call ourselves spiritual
Now I know what you’re thinking
I go to church, I pray and sometimes I read my bible
That makes me a disciple right?
Its more than most people do
Where do you get that point of view?
That sounds like the Pharisees who killed the king of the Jews
I’m not trying to step on feathers and ruffle toes
But I’m trying to make a point without labels.
Like lukewarm, marriage is torn and men addicted to porn.
Where is the righteous to guide us?
Do we have to much pride that Christ denies us
I’m tired of good deeds and us trying to please
if all it does is lead Christ back up to the cross to bleed.
Where are the warriors at, where are the disciples?
Where are the ones i read about in the bible?
If god gave us the Holy Spirit
Why do we try to run away and not hear it
if this doesn’t stir your heart
Maybe we are not doing our part
And maybe we need to start
We can’t go to church and act like Christians
Then when a new person comes in
We pretend to listen
Then after go back to life with your friends and ditch them
Man there is something missing
This equation is simple
God + nothing = everything
Maybe we should subtract the me and we
And the focus of the need,
Plant the seed and let Christ lead.
Would it be possible to get it in written form?
I kinda thought you were talking a little fast and English not being my first language I had a hard time hearing some of it.

Good job on the poem man. I am not religious, but I can respect what you believe.

Okay, this is absolutely amazing. I love this. (I read it instead of listened to it). This poem is so relevant to how things are today; whether it's in the church, homes, in our hearts, etc.
Honestly, I have been feeling like this for so long. People only putting a label on themselves to make themselves feel better. Loving God and trusting in Him should be what you WANT to do, not what you feel FORCED to do.
~I also feel that the church (and parishioners, as well) is attempting to brainwash people. Maybe not on purpose, but it is as if we (meaning "people in general") are telling people what they want to hear. OR, trying to scare them into believing, and that shouldn't happen. I'm pretty sure Jesus wouldn't want things like that.
~I don't feel that we have too much pride that Christ denies us, but I do believe that people are waaaaaaay too prideful and vein. Which breaks my heart.
~This is my favorite part of the entire poem. These four lines are something I always meditate on, whether it's praying about it, writing about it, etc. Especially "Where are the warriors at, where are the disciples?" Jesus wants US to be the new disciples, and I just wish people would listen to Him. We do need to stop and listen, not run from it.
Awesome reply Bonnie, all your points are valid and they are good :)
I especially like your last point, Jesus does want us as the new disciples and followers - its just the church isn't doing a great job at equipping others to become a disciple essentially. Even in that matter like I said Church is pushing people away which leads people to run away and not listen to what god has given to us :)

Thank you! (: Yes, I agree. The Church isn't really doing much to prepare us or teach us HOW to be the best disciples we can be... We need to lead people TO Jesus, not AWAY from Him. Ya know? (:

I'm not going to say I don't believe in Christianity, but in all honesty.. Everything in the bible could have been tampered. Homosexuality is wrong in the bible because someone was just to homophobic, I still do pray occasionally and say that I am clueless who I am speaking to, but if there is something out there could I be lead in the right direction?
In my opinion, it should come down to morals.. If you feel you've been bad and you still chose that path, than you are punished. If you believe you are correct, you are not punished.
People always say how god is so perfect, how do people get sent to hell? We humans are not near perfect but we know what pain is, we feel others. How could it be possible that a being so perfect is not able to feel empathy.
Is god perfect if he doesn't know what imperfect is?
