Site might run a cron job or a backup daily. That could cause some lag.

What web browser are you using? Internet explorer 9+ is terrible, as is Firefox IMO. If you haven't already, I would get Google Chrome. It's very optimized for faster load times and deals well with poor internet connection, or even a slow/old pc.

I personally use the Google Chrome Beta, and I get great load times.
I'm even pretty far from the server.

I had an issue too but for some reason the site loads a lot faster now. Try clearing your cookies.

My friend cleared the cookies by accident and that when I noticed I load up the page faster aswell.
