I feel like dumb people seem to enjoy life more than those who are significantly smarter than them. People with high intelligence question everything and try to break stuff into pieces rather than just take it as it is as whole. Deep thinking is good and thought provoking but comes at a price imo.

As an intelligent fellow I would say definitely. There is way more to worry about when you know things. When you're stupid, in a sense, you only focus on the little things like social media and getting drunk/high. I don't do drugs because if I do I can mess things up in a heartbeat.
I know my explanation was TOTALLY wrong but that's kinda the way I see it in my mind.

I would say so, I consider myself intelligent but my girlfriend is a fucking genius. It comes at a high price for her. Depression, anxiety, etc.

Generally, those who are smarter are able to better consider the consequences of their actions, as well as the consequences of other people's decisions. Further more, with greater intellect comes a greater ability to grasp larger concepts, often leading to existential questions that really can't be answered easily, if at all. With that kinda situation, its easy to say that in general smarter people are more depressed than "dumber" people. They have much more to consider and possibly get depressed about. And this is just a basic description. I could go on for quite a whole om this.
