Being a gamer has many deffinitions to people. I believe being a gamer is someone who just enjoys gaming, a gaming enthusiast you could say. Someone who is very intelligent about games etc. I dont get why people believe just because one plays competetively, automatically makes them a gamer.

What is being a gamer to you?

A person who plays and enjoys games on all levels. You at least have to have an open eye to them all.

If you actively play video games on a daily basis for more than 4 hours, then you are a gamer.

If you play for fucking measly hour and a half, fuck you, go outside some more. You are not manly enough for the title of gamer with your shit 1.5 hours.

I believe their are many different types of gamer. Two main types are Casual (Who plays games for fun with/out friends) and Competitive (Serious gamers who wants to win, win and win).

From observing my brother and his games that he plays I highly doubt that society considered gaming 4+ hours. 4+ hours is a bit too much for a gamer. My brother practically plays all day everyday even when have no wifi. I think that gaming is a way to be free in a virtual world that doesn't exist. Free to roam and in all honesty, parents (not all but most) are having these children's mind corrupted causing society messed up. Not all games are like this though. The educational ones a boring as boring can be, the fun ones are Rated M 17+ and my brother was 13 when he started playing the Punisher on the PS2, and that's where he learned certain things that he shouldn't. I can say there is a limit to a gamer. Yes time determines a gamer in certain ways. But it's more than just that. My brother wants to dedicate himself to gaming. He told me when he was younger that when he grew up that he wanted to be someone who works at GameStop. I can understand he loves to play games and enjoy them, to stay connected to his buddies on Xbox or PlayStation but I think there's just that extent that makes him a gamer to an addict. He has to be forced to get out of the bed and the chair he sits on to play but the fact that most teenagers are doing that. And I know the games are fun, but what really determines a gamer as to who they are is what they play, how they play it, when they play it, and where they would play it. Some gamers get lost track if time and don't prioritize correctly because of the games. And that's where some people say "I'm a gamer." When they're playing 12-15 hours playing video games.
