Alright, so you know when someone claims they are mentally unstable, schizophrenic, psycho etc. in court, all the crimes they did (no matter how heinous or violent) will get dismissed because the person is unable and unstable to stand trial.

Me:
Well, if you didn't do anything leading up to your age now, why did it just now happen? You grew up knowing the laws and the goods and bads, yet you act now. You decide to break the law and so you don't get in trouble (either because you snapped or you're a manipulator) you decide to plead insane. Grrrrr, ultimate trolls.

So, lets discuss some views and opinions on this!

People that are insane are usually sent to psychiatric wards, these wards are horrible from what I know. Personally I wouldn't use that defense, psychiatric wards are scary.

If you ever plan on killing someone with a knife, don't stop stabbing them until the cops come or until the knife breaks, you'll beat the case by insanity.

>My uncle did.

I've always wanted to hear other people's opinions on this. The "insanity plea" is growing more and more popular for people who are so desperate to get out of what they had done. Yes, someone might actually have a mental disorder which distorts their sense of reality, their sense of right and wrong, but typically, like you said, the person would have "snapped" earlier in their life, due to the mental disorder. Why would it just randomly occur now?

Being diagnosed with a mental disorder is a serious thing. It should be taken seriously, and not just thrown around as some form of reason not to face the consequences of your actions.

Jeffrey Dahmer would vouch for this method.

All jokes aside though, this is the damn truth. If you act like a complete maniac who has no sense of reality, rather than just a pissed off killer who knows what's going on, there's a good chance you'll beat the case.
