How much are you willing to spend for your pets? When we had our first dog, it got sick when it was 3 months old. After 2 days of diarrhea, the puppy looked weak and maybe dying. We were kind of hard up financially and we cannot imagine spending much money for the puppy if we bring it to the vet. But we didn't have the heart to let it die just like that.
We brought it to the dog hospital and was confined. After 2 days, it was released and my wife was so glad that our puppy got well. After paying for the expenses, we realized that money is no object when it comes to pets.

I have no pet for 6 years now. But when we had one we always provided him what best we could afford to provide him. We are vegetarians so he was also provided vegetarian items but as he was fond of milk and raw vegetables which most dogs are not we had no problems. Luckily, he seldom fell ill and when he did we provided our best care.

I think one should own a pet only if they're financially available to. Some people actually stop and limit their own luxuries and food for a pet and I don't think that's what having a pet is all about. One should spend the necessary only to keep a pet happy.

I treat our pets as family and I'm willing to spend bucks just for them to stay healthy and well. Money is not important for me, as long as I keep them alive and healthy.
